Unfortunately Dino is still at the shelter, he was supposed to be being transferred to another shelter to see if he had any luck finding a home somewhere different but everyone loves him so much here that nobody could bear to part with him. He has become settled in the kennels now and isn’t as stressed out as he used to be.
He is such a special dog and we have no idea why he hasn’t got a home yet!? He’s so intelligent and he loves people, even though he’s not keen on other dogs he can learn to tolerate calm dogs well on a walk and he’s easy to control on the lead is there is a confrontation as he’ll do anything for a biscuit!
We really enjoy walking him, he’s so much fun and he’s so funny with his silly antics and daft personality!
On saturday we took Bertie on his last walk with us as he went to his new home this weekend where he will be living with alpacas! We hope he has a great time and we know he’ll be a much loved member of the family, he really is a lovely boy.
Sunday we walked Foxy and Freddie, mother and son. Freddie is very bouncy and has lots of energy, he’s obviously intelligent and loves other dogs, he just needs a good run off the lead to wear him out. Foxy is a lovely lady, she enjoys cuddles and also has lots of energy, she’s a little more picky about other dogs but she got on well with all the dogs we saw on the walk.
We had a good 3 day weekend together this week so we went and walked the dogs every morning. We walked Trixie and Sandy again as Sandy trusts us now and has really come out of her shell! She loves cuddles now and was loving having a walk with our dog Ben, she’s come on a lot in just a week. We walked Barney, a lovely little old boy with lots of energy, he escaped from the exercise compound so we took him for a walk as he was obviously desperate to get out, he certainly doesn’t act his age! Then we walked Keisha and Bertie. Keisha is a big fuss pot, she loves cuddles and she’s nice and bouncy, she loves playing with other dogs and she’s a tease with males! Bertie is a Rottweiler crossed with what looks like a Greyhound, he’s very laid back and walks lovely on the lead, he gets on well with other dogs but can be a little dominant with other males, he has a lovely personality, but he’s very underweight and has very dry skin. All these dogs are stars and will make amazing pets!
Trixie has been at the shelter for a while now and was brought in because her owner couldn’t cope with all their dogs, unfortunately Trixie’s mother Sandy has now been brought in also. Sandy is in the same position Trixie was in when she first came to the shelter, very nervous and she gets scared of any sudden sounds or movements, she was very wary of us touching her at the start and she didn’t seem very happy to be out on the walk. By the end she trusted us a little more and she was having fun running and having a little fuss. She gets on really well with other dogs and they seem to bring her out of her shell, she was also really good with two horses that passed us on the road. Even though mother and daughter will probably have to be split again they are both great dogs, really sweet and will make great companions.
Kia is a very nice German Shepherd who hasn’t had a great start in life. She was a bit of a handful to start with but after a little while she began to trust us and started having a good time and even enjoyed a bit of fuss. She wasn’t very good with other dogs and we had to keep her under control but she was very good with the horses and pigs and she doesn’t take much notice of people. She wasn’t very interested in treats or toys, she just pottered around investigating things at her own pace. She will need some training to build a bond with someone but we think she’ll make a good companion with someone who’ll give her the love she deserves and show her that life can be fun again.
This weekend we took out little Max again but this time with Rio who has now gone to his new home! They both loved playing rough together and there was lots of ear biting! We took them out with our dog Ben and they got on very nicely together. Then we took out Dino who as been at the shelter for about a year now and we haven’t walked him since he first came in. He came in with a lot of dog aggression and he was a bit of a nightmare to take out sometimes but now he is a different dog! That staff have done wonders with him and now he is getting on much better with other dogs and we even took him out for a long walk with out dog and they got on very well, we are so proud of him! We hope this improvment will mean he gets a home soon as he is a great dog with a really lovely nature!
This week we walked a gorgeous little Staffy puppy called Max.
He’s just the cutest little boy, he has so much love to give and has lots of character. He was originally part of a litter at the RSPCA but unfortunately has been returned through no fault of his own. His previous owners have obviously been very loving and responsible as he is very obedient even at this early age, he knows some tricks, he’s very good on the lead and he absolutely loves other dogs. He made lots of new doggy friends this week on his walks and has been investigating some ducks and piglets.
As you can see he loves the outdoors and had lots of fun jumping through the long grass. He’s a very special little boy and we hope he gets a home very soon as he will be a wonderful, loyal companion.
This week we walked little Trixie again. She has really come out of her shell since we last walked her! Stephy has really fallen in love with her and wishes she could take her home. She really is a fantastic dog with such a sweet nature, she loves kisses and cuddles and she’s lots of fun. She’s very inquisitive and likes to put her front legs up on the bridge we walk over to watch the cars zip past down below. She walks like a dream on the lead and seems to be very gentle with other dogs she meets. We hope she gets a lovely home very soon as she really is special.
This week we walked Chip the Staffy and Ash the Corgi mix. Chip is a really lovely boy, he is very lively and loves to play but can also be very calm and relaxed on a walk. He gets on with other dogs and he knows some commands, he’s very well behaved and would be a great companion. Ash is a very old boy, he is blind and had to have his eyes removed due to Glaucoma. Despite this he likes to potter about and ends up walking around in circles sniffing everything. He’s very sweet and deserves a nice home where he can spend his last years pottering about the garden and relaxing.
Bella is still at the shelter so we took her out again on a lovely misty morning. She really is adorable and lots of fun to be around, she loves to play and investigate. She’s very gentle and playful with other dogs but gets very excited when she sees other animals and wants to chase them. Someone did come to look at her but decided not to take her, we hope she gets a home very soon as she really is a star.
Stephy has fallen in love with Trixie, she really is amazing. She is very well behaved and gets on with most other dogs. She can be a little nervous at times but once she see’s everything is ok she’s fine. She really does love having a cuddle and was always jumping up for some love, she’s very gentle and very affectionate, a really lovely staffy! She knows some basic commands and she walks like a dream on the lead so I would think she would be brilliant off the lead too. Really hope she gets a nice home soon before we get too attached!
Jess has been at the shelter for a long time now and this weekend we walked her for the first time. Jess is an old girl at the age of 9 but she still has loads of energy. Like most Staffies she loves nothing more than a toy she can get her teeth into and ultimately destroy! She has a big personality for her small size and she deserves a loving and playful home to spend her last years.
Unfortunately Blake is still at the RSPCA, so we took him on a lovely frosty morning walk. The staff put a head collar on him incase he pulled but he walked very well and hardly pulled at all. He is still a little boisterous but he is only young and he was excited for his walk! We had a lovely walk down the country lanes and he didn’t fall in the canal this time!
Blaze is a gorgeous, rough coated ex-racing Lurcher. He has lots of energy and can be a bit of a handful if he hasn’t had his exercise. He gets on great with other dogs, he loves to run around and play with them, it was a shame we couldn’t let him off the lead to play! He is very gentle and has a lovely nature, he would make a great addition to a family.
Tye is a lovely staffy. He gets on with other dogs and is very obedient. He was brought in by his owner who is homeless, Tye hadn’t eaten in a couple of days and his owner thought it was best he finds a new home as he loves him very much. It’s a very sad case and we hope someone snaps him up because he really is an amazing little dog.
